Vasectomy in El Paso, TX

A vasectomy is a minor surgical procedure performed on males as an effective and safe method for the prevention of unwanted pregnancies. Generally a quick outpatient procedure, a vasectomy essentially disconnects or blocks the vas deferens, preventing sperm from entering semen before ejaculation. Vasectomy procedures are highly effective birth control measures, second only to abstinence. Committed to providing surgical care in the most minimally invasive way possible, Dr. Leo Altenberg offers the vasectomy procedure to men throughout El Paso. For more information on getting a vasectomy, please call our office located in El Paso, TX.

At our clinic, Dr. Altenberg performs vasectomies by severing the vas deferens, thereby stopping sperm from entering the semen. Before this minor procedure, he will evaluate your health and discuss the procedure to determine if you are an ideal candidate. If you're uncertain about the permanent nature of a vasectomy, it's worth considering other contraception options, as vasectomies are not recommended for those with chronic testicular pain or disease. The procedure itself involves a local anesthetic for minimal discomfort, takes about 30 minutes, and is done in our office. After numbing the area, Dr. Altenberg makes a small incision in the scrotum to access and seal the vas deferens. The incision is then stitched up, and you can return home the same day, as it's an outpatient procedure.

A vasectomy procedure at El Paso Men's & Women's Clinic allows men to take control of their birth control responsibilities with benefits, including:

  • Provides a nearly 100% effective method of preventing pregnancy
  • The procedure is quick and typically has a short recovery time
  • Vasectomies are a one-time procedure with no ongoing costs
  • Allows for spontaneity in sexual activity without the worry of contraception
  • There are no significant long-term side effects
  • Vasectomies do not affect hormone levels or sexual function
  • It's a more cost-effective solution compared to other birth control methods over time

Got a vasectomy. Everything went well. Some expected discomfort during the procedure but nothing too bad. If 6 months from now my wife is pregnant, I’ll have to change my star rating.

Gentlemen, I highly recommend Dr. Altenberg and his down-to-earth yet immensely professional staff. They are all great! Dr. Altenberg did my vasectomy. First hand experience: Everyone makes you feel comfortable and instill confidence that you are receiving quality care- from the initial interaction as you walk in to the vitals and prep, and through the actual procedure. The doctor was thorough and offered to answer/address any questions or concerns. He was skillful in carrying out the procedure, and it was not painful. It was all seamless, and they really have a top notch operation. I have never had an experience at a doctor’s office be quite so positive. Men, if you and your counterpart realize it’s time for that snip, do not hesitate- go see Dr. Altenberg and his awesome staff. Two thumbs up!
