Before this minor procedure, he will evaluate your health and discuss the procedure to determine if you are an ideal candidate. If you're uncertain about the permanent nature of a vasectomy, it's worth considering other contraception options, as vasectomies are not recommended for those with chronic testicular pain or disease. The procedure itself involves a local anesthetic for minimal discomfort, takes about 30 minutes, and is done in our office. After numbing the area, Dr. Altenberg makes a small incision in the scrotum to access and seal the vas deferens. The incision is then stitched up, and you can return home the same day, as it's an outpatient procedure.

First hand experience: Everyone makes you feel comfortable and instill confidence that you are receiving quality care- from the initial interaction as you walk in to the vitals and prep, and through the actual procedure. The doctor was thorough and offered to answer/address any questions or concerns. He was skillful in carrying out the procedure, and it was not painful. It was all seamless, and they really have a top notch operation. I have never had an experience at a doctor’s office be quite so positive.
